I started this project in October of 2006 as I could not get it out of my head that many "Christians" have no idea what true Christian confession really is.
My goal with this project is to both educate those who don't understand confession and to learn from those of you that understand it better than I.
My interest in confession really started in the summer of 2006 when I was asked by the youth pastor at our church to lead the teens on Sunday morning through a segment from Dietrich Bonheoffer’s Ethics: Specifically the confession of the church because of the guilt that comes with the being in the presence of Christ (Luke 5:7-10).

There is some debate on this type of confession so I have set it in its own category. The confession of belief does not quite line up with any other category, yet is so vital to our faith that it deserves to be set apart.
Although what one believes is deeply personal and also hopelessly bound to the social environment in which they learned to view the world. Confession of belief exists in every religion in the world however; the implications of this confession to a Christian are the difference between life and death. In common Christian circles this is knows as the Confession of Peter. As Peter was the disciple who confessed that Jesus was the Son of God, the messiah. Although this confession can take on may forms, and can be a flippant as a “how are you” as you pass a familiar face on the street or as sincere and from the heart as the “I Do” on your wedding day. The former is said because silence would be awkward the latter is said because you are promising to love, honor, and cherish your spouse for the rest of your life no matter what.
A friend recently asked me how I knew if his confession of belief was genuine. I told him I would only know by the fruit of his life. If his confession the result of a fleeting thought like that of the passerby on the street his life would not change, but if it were like the young couple in love at the alter then he could expect changes to his heart, mind, and body that he would have never before imagined.
Jesus knows our heart when we confess to Him and He knows our motivations. Put on a show for others and He will see right through it but confess to Him with a sincere heart and even the smallest of faith will move mountains. You do not have to have "perfect faith" before confessing who Jesus and Yahweh are if that were the case then we would never be saved.
